Futura Trailer transports World Championship Ferrari, Formula 1 Racecar to collection in South Carolina
Futura Trailer Transports World Championship Ferrari
Karl Troy, Owner & Lead Technician at European Road and Racing in Charleston, South Carolina, experienced Futura loading and transporting at its highest level.
European Road and Racing is a service, repair, and performance center specializing in performance vehicles and exotic cars for professional racing teams and motorsports enthusiasts.
They are well known in their community for their quality work, knowledge, and skills in the industry.
A Colossal Mission
In the fall or winter of 2017, Karl had to take on a colossal mission that other performance centers wouldn’t even consider.
He was approached by Ferrari of Atlanta, in order to move a $9m Formula 1 car, Michael Schumacher’s Winning 2001 World Championship Ferrari to be exact, to a collection roughly 100 miles from Charleston.
“They called several companies but nobody would get near a $9m Formula 1 racecar. They were all afraid for liability reasons and such.”
European Road and Racing are conscious of how they treat their customers cars when servicing, providing support, or transporting quality cars for their customers.
So Karl agreed with Ferrari that they would move the Formula 1 racecar. “Then we found they had another car in the collection that was 8 million dollars. So there was $17m in total, in cars we had to move at the same time.”
"We were very proud to be able to do it with such a wonderful trailer!"
The trailer they had at the time did not lend itself well to this type of mission. They had to take the car from the transporter, through neighborhoods where the transport truck could not access.
Then back the trailer down half a mile through winding roads and woods to get to the collection. The only safe way to do this was with a Futura Trailer, a trailer they could count on to finish the mission without any risk of damage to these expensive cars.
“There were only 50 or so people watching the entire process, haha. Loading a Formula 1 racecar was actually not tough at all. This trailer is so low slung with great ground clearance that there were no issues what-so-ever.”
Karl is also a motorsport enthusiast himself, driving an Audi R8, and his dad driving a modified Audi R8 (the only one of its kind in the world).
These cars are their pride and joys and they know they can count on Futura Trailers to transport their vehicles without any risk of damage to their cars.
“This was our maiden run with Futura Trailers and of course it doesn’t get any better than that.
I don’t think anyone in the world has ever towed a car of that expense with a Futura Trailer, and certainly we were very proud to be able to do it with such a wonderful trailer!
I highly recommend Futura. Would you tow your $9m Formula 1 car on a 5k trailer? I certainly would not.” - Karl Troy
