The Proper Tie-Down Method
Securing your car correctly is crucial for safe transportation. Here's a step-by-step guide to using the Futura Tie Down Set effectively:
Unboxing and Assembling the Tie-Downs
When you first receive your tie-downs, they will come bundled in a box and require some assembly. Our tie-downs are not your typical straps; they come with a tie strap branded with the Futura logo, ensuring you get the quality and reliability you expect from our products.
Step 1: Creating the Loop
Start by adding the tie-down strap and creating a loop. This loop will lasso the top of the tire.
Position the car on the trailer, ensuring it's centered and stable.
Place one hook close to the wheel. You can either hook it into the slot provided or use the airline track on your trailer if available. For simplicity, we’ll use the hole provided.
Step 2: Positioning the Strap
Lay the strap over the tire initially. For cars with minimal clearance, such as race cars, you can shimmy the strap over without reaching deep into the wheel well.
Drop the strap over the back of the wheel. Ensure it’s positioned above the brake rotor and that you can see the strap through the wheel to confirm it’s down far enough and secure.
Step 3: Hooking and Ratcheting
Keep the tie strap below the wheel's centerline to prevent it from pulling off. Ideally, position it perfectly to create a 45-degree X shape.
Attach the floating hook to the airline track or the provided slot. This allows flexibility in positioning the tie-downs to suit the wheel’s best angle.
Next, attach the tie-down to the ratchet end. The floating hook design ensures the ratchet can be placed away from the vehicle, avoiding any potential damage.
Step 4: Tightening and Adjusting
Apply light pressure on the ratchet to hold the strap's shape.
Adjust the strap to ensure it's centralized and forms a nice X shape below the wheel’s center.
Rotate the strap if necessary to maintain the shortest route, ensuring it doesn’t move during travel. This step is crucial for preventing the tie-downs from loosening.
Final Adjustments
Check that the strap tracks correctly over the tire and doesn't flatten against it.
Apply the final tension to the ratchet, ensuring everything is tight and secure. The tie-downs should hold the car firmly without the need for constant re-tightening.

Don't compromise on the security of your prized vehicle. The Futura Tie Down Set offers professional-grade quality and ease of use, making it an essential tool for any car transport operation.
